i first read about this book in the local newspaper here. there was a book review about another book by the same author JOHN BOYNE..
i think i want to grab one of those books now..namely: the boy in thr striped pyjamas, and the house of special purpose...both about my 2 most favorite topics in history..the holocaust, and the missing Princess ANASTACIA.
so here it goes, i couldn't find the book on "fullybooked online" as well as national bookstore's online site. but i managed to watch the 2008 film on youtube
daaaarn! 9 whole parts with 10 minutes each.. THANK GOD for DSL..if i was on dial-up i would've given up sooner..
so here's bruno
cute right?..i like how pale he is..and his eyes..
and shmuel (read as SHMOLE)
it's a story about innocence, and the reality that despite being friends..they were supposed to be..uhm..err...enemies,
well shmuel was a jew, and bruno was the son of a Nazi soldier..go figure!
so how it ended..sad..yes but it wasn't sad enough to bring me to tears or anyfing..bruno volunteered to look for shmuel's papa(he's been missing, i think he's dead by that time). so bruno borrowed the "jew" clothes from shmuel and decided to look or "explore" inside the camp.
unfortunately, they both found themselves dragged along this group of men, being led to the gas chamber. as 8 year olds..they didn't know what this was..they even thought they where going to have a shower..(i think)..i think you already know what happened..
so bruno's family go looking for him..seeing his real clothes outside the fence..bruno's dad goes inside the camp, realizing his son is nowhere to be found..he soon realizes the smoke coming from the gas chamber..
the end
p.s. if you ever get to watch the movie you'll realize that the only real german in the movie is the dog..all the actors where british..teehee..=)
